Read moreNakata Umeshu Kishu Black Sugar is a fruit liqueur made from nanko ume grown in Kishu in the Wakayama region.
Nanko ume is a small Japanese fruit between the mirabelle plum and the apricot, often compared to the plum. Harvested by hand, the fruits are macerated in a mixture of alcohol, Okinawa brown sugar and honey. The sweetness of the fruits is then transmitted to the liqueur which will acquire its round and soft texture, and fruity aromas of mirabelle plum, almond and brown sugar. A light woody touch appears in the finish.
This liqueur can be enjoyed with desserts, but can also be used as a cocktail ingredient. To take full advantage of its aromatic palette, it is advisable to taste it just with a few ice cubes.
