This whisky reveals a rich nose with aromas of beet, smoked cheese and nuts. On the palate, it offers a gourmet experience marked by notes of caramel, banana and chestnut. The finish is balanced, revealing flavors of caramel, nuts and a subtle touch of delicate peat.

Made from 100% malt, Togouchi Single Cask Mizunara is distilled twice, first in a pot still, then in a hybrid still. It is aged for 5 years in Mizunara casks, a Japanese oak renowned for imparting unique, complex aromas to spirits. Bottled at 51.1% alcohol, this single malt is offered as a limited edition, reflecting the distillery's craftsmanship.

Founded in 1918, the Sakurao distillery combines a rich tradition with a constant quest for innovation. Situated between sea and mountains, it benefits from an exceptional natural environment, conducive to the creation of whiskies of character. Togouchi Single Cask Mizunara is aged in a unique underground cellar, a 361-meter tunnel offering ideal maturing conditions thanks to a constant temperature of 14°C and 80% humidity. This particular aging method gives the whisky remarkable depth and aromatic complexity, testifying to the distillery's commitment to producing spirits of excellence.

The brand

The brand Togouchi

Togouchi is a special player in the Japanese whisky market. Firstly because the whiskies that make up the range are a blend of Scottish malt whiskies and grain whiskies from Canada.

They are then blended in Japan and aged in an old railway tunnel where the constant temperature of 14°C allows an ideal maturation. This tunnel is located in the city of Togouchi, near Hiroshima, which is obviously where the name of these original whiskies comes from.
