Shōchū

Traditional Japanese spirits

Shōchū, which means distilled liquor in japanese, is a typical alcoholic drink of Japan distilled from a brewing of rice fermented by a fungus and barley, wheat, sweet potato or others ingredients. Originally from Kyushu, shōchū is usually bottled at around 25% of the volume but sometimes up to 40%.
