After presenting three new borns whiskies and two first single malts, the Kanosuke distillery founded in 2016 on the island of Kyushu in the south of the Japanese archipelago, unveils the third edition of its single malt.

Composed of a blend of unpeated malts distilled between 2017 and 2019 in the young distillery's three stills, Kanosuke Single Malt 2022 has been bottled at natural cask strength, without reduction to retain maximum flavor. All the malts were aged in different types of oak casks, but like the two previous editions which focused on malts aged in shochu casks for the 2020 edition and bourbon for the 2021 edition, this third edition is composed of a majority of sherry casks.

With a rich, fruity and spicy aroma profile, this single malt that embodies the distillery's concept of "sweet land, sweet whisky" expresses a complex nose with notes of lemon tea, honey, the acidity and saltiness of umeboshi plum and a touch of rose. On the palate, spices appear with Japanese nikki cinnamon, but it is mainly the fruit flavors that take over with dried red berry and cherry, accompanied by a slight bitterness of chocolate and coffee candy and an intense woody aroma inherited from the aging in oak barrels. On the finish, the sherry casks deliver spicy notes that linger nicely.

Product limited to 1 bottles per order.
