Nine Leaves Almost Spring Cabernet Sauvignon

Nine Leaves Almost Spring Cabernet Sauvignon rum is a creation of the micro-distillery Nine Leaves founded by Yoshiharu Takeuchi in 2013 in Otsu on the shores of Lake Biwa.

This rum is unique in that it is almost like a whiskey, distilled in traditional Scottish stills and aged for a year in red wine barrels (Cabernet Sauvignon) from Wente Vineyards, a winery in California, USA. Surprisingly complex, it reveals notes of mango, honey and smoky vanilla on the nose, followed by spicy and ginger aromas on the palate, and finally disappearing into an intensely fruity finish.

Nine Leaves Almost Spring Cabernet Sauvignon is made from unrefined brown sugar, muscovado, from Tamara Island in the tropical Okinawa archipelago. Its gourmet aromatic palette is enriched by vinous aromas derived from the exchange between the barrel and the rum during the maturation process.
