Chichibu The Peated 2022 seduces with its rich, complex aromatic profile. On the nose, the peat is subtle but present, accompanied by ashy notes and a lovely fruity freshness, with aromas of apple, apricot, peach and grapefruit, as well as a touch of caramel. On the palate, this powerful whisky offers a fine harmony between peat and fruity, spicy flavors: peach, apricot, plum and caramelized apple mingle with marine, lemon and sweet vanilla notes. The long, smoky finish leaves a lasting, refined impression.

The Peated 2022 is bottled at 53.5%, allowing the full richness of its peaty aromas to be expressed, while preserving a beautiful fruity and spicy complexity. It is crafted from highly peated malt, giving this edition exceptional depth and aromatic power, while remaining perfectly balanced by fruity flavors and underlying sweetness.

Chichibu, founded by Ichiro Akuto in 2008, is located in Japan's mountainous Saitama region. The distillery has quickly made a name for itself thanks to its artisanal approach and innovative production methods. The distillery

The distillery Chichibu

Ichiro Akuto, grandson of the founder of the Hanyu distillery, decided in 2007 to build a new whisky distillery in the town of Chichibu, 100 kilometers northwest of Tokyo.


Located near the old Hanyu distillery, the local climate with harsh winters and hot & humid summers, gives a certain maturity to the whiskies produced in Chichibu despite their relative young age (production started in 2008).


A small distillery, Chichibu produces in small quantities, but the remaining stocks of Hanyu, Kawasaki and Karuizawa, now exhausted but having been housed there, have allowed Ichiro Akuto to compose rare and exceptional blends. In 2020, the first of Ichiro Akuto's dreams came true with the first 10 year old single malt distilled, aged and blended in Chichibu and a long history beginning to be written.
