Produced in 2013, single malt Chichibu "On the Way" was the first aged whisky of the small distillery founded in 2008 in Saitama region. With this new version bottled in December 2015 Ichiro Akuto san, Chichibu's Founder and Chief Blender, offers a release a bit more mature and complex.
This 2015 version retains the greedy, spicy and woody features of the 2013 aromatic profile with a similar blend created from a batch of 40 barrels of bourbon casks and a single Mizunara cask, made from the so rare and typical oak of Japan.
Like the 2013 version Chichibu "On the Way" in 2015 has not been bottled cask strength despite a high alcohol volume of 55.5%. However it is not chill filtered and a few diluted to preserve all its aromatic palette.
With his young distillery, Ichiro Akuto san is a major actor in the Japanese whisky industry and his surprisingly mature whiskies are gaining notoriety and quality each year.
Product limited to 1 bottles per order.

The distillery Chichibu
Ichiro Akuto, grandson of the founder of the Hanyu distillery, decided in 2007 to build a new whisky distillery in the town of Chichibu, 100 kilometers northwest of Tokyo.
Located near the old Hanyu distillery, the local climate with harsh winters and hot & humid summers, gives a certain maturity to the whiskies produced in Chichibu despite their relative young age (production started in 2008).
A small distillery, Chichibu produces in small quantities, but the remaining stocks of Hanyu, Kawasaki and Karuizawa, now exhausted but having been housed there, have allowed Ichiro Akuto to compose rare and exceptional blends. In 2020, the first of Ichiro Akuto's dreams came true with the first 10 year old single malt distilled, aged and blended in Chichibu and a long history beginning to be written.
