As a blend of grains and peated malts from the Akkeshi distillery, aged in Mizunara oak casks from Hokkaido, this whisky thus offers a complete taste experience, combining peaty elements and citrus nuances, for a harmonious balance and a memorable tasting experience.
On the nose, there's a slightly smoky, incense-like peatiness and the citrus sweetness characteristic of Akkeshi whiskies. On the palate, it offers a perfect balance between tangy citrus notes such as orange and hassaku lemon, and more unexpected flavors reminiscent of sea breeze, salty soy sauce, lemongrass and sage. The finish is marked by a slight persistence of peat, enhanced by lemon zest and white pepper. Akkeshi Blend Taisho whisky thus offers a complete taste experience, combining peaty elements with citrus nuances, for a harmonious balance and a memorable tasting experience.
This Japanese blended whisky is part of the "24 solar terms series", being the eighth in this collection. This series is inspired by the ancient Asian calendar, which divides a year into 24 solar seasons. Taisho, also known as "Great Heat", symbolizes the period when summer reaches its peak, stretching from late July to early August. During this period, the paulownia, a Japanese imperial tree, produces its first seeds, while humidity rises and intense rains can occur. Numerous summer festivals and fireworks displays are organized in different regions, where participants dress in yukata, a traditional lightweight garment. Taisho's indigo blue label evokes the emblematic colors of this summer kimono.

The distillery Akkeshi
Founded in 2013 by the Kenten Company, Akkeshi Distillery is sometimes referred to as the little Lagavulin for its similarities to the famous Scottish distillery.
Akkeshi is the second Japanese whisky distillery based on the island of Hokkaido after the famous Yoichi distillery of Nikka. Like its neighbor, it is inspired by the Scottish spirit with its pair of Forsyths traditional pot stills and the use of peated barley to produce single malts with a strong peaty character like those of Islay.
